Asdam Tambusay is an associate researcher in the Laboratory of Concrete and Building Materials (LB3)
at Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember (ITS). His research interests are primarily concerned with the development,
assessment, and numerical simulation of cement-based materials, with particular focusing on advanced cementitious
composites such as Engineered Cementitious Composite or widely known as ‘bendable concrete’.
Asdam received his first class BEng in Civil Engineering from Hasanuddin University in 2012. He then worked as
a Design Engineer at PT. VSL Indonesia. Asdam went on to undertake a PhD at Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember
under the scheme of fast-track scholarship programme which enabled him to earn his PhD degree in 2017 without
enrolling for the Master programme. During the course of his PhD programme, he also had the opportunity to
perform collaborative work between Indonesia and the UK where he embarked on his journey into ECC research and
the development of automated crack mapping in the reinforced concrete members.
Upon joining LB3 in September 2017, Asdam continued to work in ECC research, focusing on exploiting its potential
for marine infrastructure. This work has also led him to establish the MoU between ITS and Heriot-Watt University.
