About - Computational Structural Mechanic Research Groups (CSMRG)

Background

The Computational Structural Mechanic Research Group [CMSRG] was established in 2017. The initial purposes were to gather talented researchers in the Civil Engineering Department - Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember (CVEN-ITS) and to collaborate in producing high-quality research involving numerical simulation using the inhouse developed software. This research group motto is "standing in our own feet (BERDIKARI)" which means that the research is mainly executed using the inhouse developed software. The use of commercial software is only for comparisons and validation purposes. The group consists of lecturers, undergraduate, master and Ph.D students in CVEN-ITS. To validate the numerical research with the experimental research, CMSRG also engage in the experimental studies and is fully supported by Laboratory of Concrete and Building Material, Laboratory of Structures and Laboratory of Soil Mechanics and Rocks in CVEN-ITS. In order to support the research, a sufficiently fast computational platform (a small computer cluster) are built in CVEN-ITS. The developed inhouse softwares are prepared for heterogeneous computing and are based on Object Oriented Programming (OOP) language.

Research Interest

In general, CMSRG research interest are: Nonlinear analysis of solid continuum using 3D-NLFEA, multi-scale nonlinear structural analysis, reliability analysis of structures, coupled mechanical and chemical analysis of concrete materials, constitutive model development for advanced concrete materials, constitutive model development for cement-based treated soil, nonlinear analysis of composite structures and development of simplified nonlinear analysis of reinforced concrete and masonry structures.

How to Become a Member

To become the member of the group, ensure that you are a registered student in CVEN-ITS and directly involved with the available research topic. For students, the available research topic is automatically become the student thesis. Mostly, the project has a certain completion time, spesific outcomes and some of them requires the previous research to be firstly solved. Hence, the student must have high dedication towards completion of the research. To engage with the supplied and/or spesific research topic, please email the Person-In-Charge (PIC) of the research with a motivation letter explaining why you want to engage the research.

Funding Our Research

We are open for sponsorhips in our research. Please contact us to discuss the terms and conditions.
